I just got an e-mail about the fall line from Lilly Pulitzer this morning, “right from the shores of preppy Palm Beach”. While their target demographic is more “country club and charity ball” than “I’ll be teaching for free this fall”, I don’t hold it against them. Here are my favorite pieces.
From the Day Lilly Collection:
I kind of love the elephant on the shoulder, especially the scale. It’s not a twee little elephant, you can see it from across the room. The colorblocking on the sleeves makes this sweater for me; I’m sure the elephant feels right at home knowing he’s not the only blue and green in a sea of pink.
From the Social Butterfly Collection:
Sadly, I am not attending any fancy parties in the near future. Boo. Although I do have a friend who’s getting married… maybe I can convince her to pick this for her bridesmaid dresses?
From the Casa Loca Collection:
Cocktail ClutchI want both colors, and really, who wouldn’t? The question is, which one would go better with my Parker dress?
By itself, I really like this bag.
Upon close inspection, it gets even better:
Princess Pink Marching Band Print
It’s not just houndstooth: IT’S ELEPHANTS! To go with my sweater! And as though that’s not enough…
It will be a sad day in Pretty Preppy Polished land that I don’t get excited about rain boots. Now if only Lilly Pulitzer made umbrellas.
From the Minnies collection:
I have two nieces with birthdays in September, and it is taking all of my willpower not to buy them both this dress. But then I remember that it’s white, and they’re turning 5 and 3, and oh yes, it’s a-hundred-and-fifty-eight dollars, which is an awful lot to pay for a dress that will stay white for 12 seconds. But wouldn’t they look pretty for those twelve seconds?
