For the past few years, I’ve been wearing clothes that are comfortable and moderately attractive, but boring. Lots of solid colors, t-shirts (short and long sleeved, gotta mix it up!), jeans and flip flops; a pretty standard college uniform (minus the Uggs that are everywhere, because gross).
This fall, I’ll still be in school, but I’ll also be part-time student teaching at a high school. Not only will I have to look not like a high school student professional, but I’ll also have to go straight from my classes to teaching. It would be easy to buy a bunch of plain button-downs and some conservative pants, but I want to like what I’m wearing every day. And I want to be professional while still looking my age.
I’m done buying clothes because they “work” for the situation. I’m done buying clothes because they’re cheap (although that doesn’t hurt!) I want to buy clothes that I love, that make me feel good, and that fit my life.
So I made myself a rule. If it isn’t feminine, preppy or tailored, I’m not buying it. Pretty, Preppy and Polished just made a better blog name. Pretty, because I’m a huge girly-girl, preppy because… well, I love me some J. Crew. And polished because my figure looks best in tailored clean lines and substantial fabrics. I’ll be sharing both real-shopping and wish-shopping for clothes and accessories, as well as pictures of what I’m actually wearing. More importantly, I would love opinions and suggestions from you. I know I can’t be the only college-transitioner out there going for a new look. Stick around and we’ll find it!
Love your inspiration!
